California High School Baseball - Crespi nudged by Notre Dame
(March 27, 2009: Sherman Oaks, CA 91423) The Notre Dame Knights baseball team scored 11 points and limited the visiting Crespi Celts to 10 in the Knights league victory on Friday.
The Knights (8-2) will now prepare for their match against Alemany (Mission Hills, CA). The Warriors go into the Mission match with a 7-4 record. In their last match, Alemany was edged by Harvard-Westlake (North Hollywood, CA), 15-7, in a league match.
The Celts (8-3) will now prepare for their match against St. Francis (La Canada, CA). The Golden Knights go into the Mission match with a 10-1 record.
Scoreless first inning, in second Crespi put up four with two outs, by way of three infield singles and a walk. Notre Dame answered with one on a walk, single and sac fly. In the fourth Crespi had a lead off double, scoring on a subsequent single. In the fifth, Crespi added 4 via two home runs (Mason and Wiley) and a double, to go ahead 9-1. Notre Dame responded in the bottom of the 5th, putting up six runs on four hits, 3 singles, a double, and a walk. In the 6th Crespi added an insurance run to take the lead 10-7. The Knights put up one and the teams headed to the 7th inning with the score 10-8, favoring Crespi. The Celts did not score giving the Knights their last up which they took full advantage of via a lead off single, followed by a home run (Josh Goosen Brown) to tie the game. ND loaded the bases with two walks and a single finally a single provided the walk-off win 11-10.
