California High School Baseball - Point Loma defeats WestviewApril 8, 2009: San Diego, CA 92129
The Point Loma Pointers (San Diego, CA) baseball trounced the host Westview Wolverines (San Diego, CA), 10-4 in Wednesday's non-league contest.
Coming up next, the Pointers encounter the Coronado Islanders (Coronado, CA) in a Western contest, on Tuesday, April 14. Point Loma will attempt to better on its 12-2 season record. The Islanders come into the contest with a 6-8 record after their 5-4 non-league loss to El Camino Real (Woodland Hills, CA).
The Wolverines now sport a 5-8 record. They play next when they host Foothill for a non-league contest on Thursday, April 9. Westview will encounter a Falcons squad coming off a 8-5 non-league loss to Carlsbad (Carlsbad, CA). The Falcons record now stands at 8-7.
Once again the Pointers played a great game of baseball knocking out 16 hits, scoring 10 runs and committing no errors for a win vs. Westview High School. Connor Baits pitched a complete game surrendering 4 runs on 6 hits. Unfortunately for the Pointers the win wasn’t enough to get them into the semi finals of the Lion’s tournament so now they will rest up and be ready for league play next week. Sadly in the bottom of the 7th inning Westview player David Mannino slid into second base and broke is ankle causing a 25 minute game delay while paramedics immobilized his leg and removed him from the field. 4 Pointers had a multi hit game; Skarbic 3-4, Wear 3-4, delaGarza 3-5 and Bruhn 2-4.
