In Tuesday's non-league challenge, the Wheaton Knights (Silver Spring, MD) baseball squad triumphed over the visiting Poolesville Falcons (Poolesville, MD), by a margin of 12-4.
With the win, Wheaton betters its record to 4-3 on the season. The Knights travel to Quince Orchard (Gaithersburg, MD) to encounter the Cougars in a Montgomery County 3A/2A challenge on Thursday, April 22. The Cougars come into the challenge with a record of 9-2. Quince Orchard won 9-4 in their recent league challenge against Rockville (Rockville, MD)
With the defeat, Poolesville falls to 4-5 on the season. The Falcons host Seneca Valley (Germantown, MD) to encounter the Screamin' Eagles in a Montgomery County 3A/2A challenge on Thursday, April 22. The Screamin' Eagles come into the challenge with a record of 4-4. Seneca Valley won 18-1 in their recent league challenge against Watkins Mill (Gaithersburg, MD)
The Falcons lost to a very good Wheaton team today. The final was 12-4 in 7 innings.
The Falcons did have some offensive highlights with Drew Karlin going 2 for 3 with 2 runs on a triple (thrown out at home trying to score), a suicide squeeze play from third, and an opposite field solo home run in the 7th inning.
Tanner Werkmann was 4 for 4 with 4 singles and Darryl Lang was 2 for 2 with 2 singles and reached base on a walk.
The Falcons were hit hard early by Wheaton as the Knights scored 3 in the first inning, 3 in the second, 2 in the third, and 4 in the fourth.
The next game for the Falcons (3-5) is on Thursday at home against Seneca Valley.
