Spectators at Thursday's non-league battle between the Amador Valley Dons (Pleasanton, CA) and the visiting Freedom Falcons (Oakley, CA), saw Amador Valley's baseball squad edge Freedom by a count of 2-1.
Coming up next, the Dons play the Galena Grizzlies (Reno, NV) in a non-league battle, on Friday, March 11. Amador Valley will attempt to move on its 2-0 season record.
The Falcons now possess a 0-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Logan for a non-league battle on Saturday, March 12. Freedom will play a Colts squad coming off a 5-4 non-league win over Galena (Reno, NV). The Colts record now stands at 4-0.
Pitching dominated this early season game. Nick Piscotty baffled the Freedom hitters, striking out 12 in 6.1 innings. SS - Chirs Keck threw 1.2 strong innings of relief and Jimmy Doyle earned his first varsity win by pitching a strong 9th and 10th. Catcher, Alex Rojas hit the game wining sac fly in the bottom of the 10th scoring Aaron Hafford. Of special note was Hafford's game saving, diving catch in center field.
