Junction City High School drops 11-7 game to Hayden despite efforts of Ruiz
Pete Ruiz did all he could to give Junction City High School a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past Hayden, as Junction City High School lost 11-7 in seven innings at Rathert on Saturday.
Ruiz did his best to jumpstart the offense for Junction City High School, reaching base four times. He tripled in the first inning and singled in the third and seventh innings.
Grant Arnold got the win for Hayden despite allowing seven runs over 5 1/3 innings. The Hayden pitcher struck out five, walked 11 and surrendered six hits.
Skylar Smith, Tanner Triggs, Kyle Latendresse and Gage Stevens helped lead Hayden. They combined for eight hits and seven RBIs.
Kansas High School Baseball - Junction City/St. Xavier loses to Hayden
(April 28, 2012: Junction City, KS 66441) The Hayden Wildcats baseball team scored 11 runs and limited the host Junction City/St. Xavier Bluejays to 7 in the Wildcats non-league victory on Saturday.
The Wildcats (10-4) will now prepare for their match against Junction City/St. Xavier (Junction City, KS). The Bluejays go into the Centennial match with a 9-5 record. In their last match, Junction City/St. Xavier was overwhelmed by Highland Park (Topeka, KS), 9-3, in a league challenge.
With the defeat, Junction City/St. Xavier falls to 9-7 on the season. The Bluejays host Hayden (Topeka, KS) to encounter the Wildcats in a Centennial challenge on Saturday, April 28. The Wildcats come into the challenge with a record of 8-4. Hayden won 9-3 in their recent league challenge against West (Topeka, KS)
