In Tuesday's league game, the visiting St. Lawrence Celtics baseball team scored a nice 12-1 victory over the Jewish Community Wolves.
The Celtics (2-1) will now prepare for their game against Woodside Priory (Portola Valley, CA). The Panthers go into the non-league outing with a 0-1 record.
Next, the Wolves confront the Summit Prep Huskies (Redwood City, CA) in a Private School outing, on Wednesday, March 7. Jewish Community will attempt to advance on its 0-1 season record. The Huskies go into the outing with a 0-1 record after their 10-4 non-league loss to Pinewood (Los Altos Hills, CA).
Sahil Bhargava struck out 10 and allowed just one hit, and the Celtics iced a league-opening win with a pair of four-run innings against the Wolves. Saint Lawrence (2-1)opened defense of its PSAL title with a 12-1, five-inning league victory.
Bhargava (2-0) tamed the Wolves so thoroughly that the only balls they hit out of the infield were a bad-hop single and a flyball to center field to end the game. The Saint Lawrence junior right-hander has not allowed an earned run, and has given up just three hits, in 10 and 2/3 innings of work this season.
Senior shortsop Matt Barela led the Celtic attack with a 4-for-4, two RBI game. Barela's RBI double in the fourth and his run-scoring single in the fifth propelled Saint Lawrence to four runs in each of these innings to clinch the victory. Bhargava showed his all-around skills by collecting two hits, two RBIs, and scoring three runs. Matt Hargadon contributed four RBIs to the Celtics' cause, and Michael Low scored twice
