In Saturday's non-league game, the visiting Sutherland Knights baseball team scored a tight 11-4 victory over the Rush-Henrietta Royal Comets.
The Knights (9-1) will now prepare for their game against Greece Odyssey (Rochester, NY). The Leopards go into the non-league game with a 5-2 record. In their last game, Greece Odyssey was overwhelmed by Mendon (Pittsford, NY), 14-7, in a non-league game.
The Royal Comets (4-3) will now prepare for their game against Victor (Victor, NY). The Blue Devils go into the Section 5 Monroe County I game with a 7-1 record. In their last game, Victor was overwhelmed by Irondequoit (Rochester, NY), 11-10, in a league game.
The Sutherland Knights used a dominant pitching performance by John Meuchner to defeat Rush-Henrietta 11-4 today in non-league action. Meuchner, who had a perfect game through 5 innings, struck out 11 batters in 6 innings of work while giving up only 3 hits. Today's victory is Meuchner's third win of 2012.
Sutherland's 2-6 hitters did most of the damage with Meuchner, Grant Heyman and Jeff Kay all having multi-hit games with Kay also having three runs scored and Meuchner contributing two RBIs. Ryan Hallowell also had two RBIs and Spencer Lowe had two runs scored to round out the offense.
