The Palmetto Panthers baseball team scored 7 runs and limited the visiting Braddock Bulldogs to 3 in the Panthers non-league victory on Wednesday.
The Panthers (1-0) will now prepare for their match against Sunset (Miami, FL). The Knights go into the non-league match with a 0-1 record. In their last match, Sunset was overwhelmed by South Dade (Homestead, FL), 5-2, in a non-league match.
The Bulldogs (0-1) will now prepare for their match against South Dade (Homestead, FL). The Buccaneers go into the non-league match with a 1-0 record. In their last match, South Dade edged Sunset (Miami, FL), 5-2, in a non-league match.
The Bulldogs fall to Palmetto 7-3 in spite of Hernandez's performance
Brian Hernandez did all he could to give the Bulldogs a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past Palmetto, as the Bulldogs lost 7-3 in seven innings at South Dade on Wednesday.
Hernandez was hot from the plate for the Bulldogs. Hernandez went 2-3. He singled in the second and fourth innings.
M Gruener got the win for Palmetto. He allowed three runs over seven innings. Gruener struck out 10, walked three and gave up six hits.
The game was never in doubt after the first, as Palmetto scored three runs on an error and two singles.
Palmetto built upon its lead with two runs in the second. A clutch error scored C Nash to open the scoring in the frame.
Three runs in the top of the seventh helped the Bulldogs close their deficit to 7-3. An RBI single by Gaby Mundo and a two-run single by Willie Padron triggered the Bulldogs' comeback.
