The Christian Brothers Falcons the host Oakmont Vikings baseball team by a count of 5-0 in Thursday's league bout.
The Falcons now possess a 6-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Rio Linda for a Capital Valley Conference bout on Friday, March 28. Christian Brothers will face a Knights team coming off a 8-5 league loss to Bella Vista (Fair Oaks, CA). The Knights record now stands at 5-4.
Next, the Vikings face the Del Campo Cougars (Fair Oaks, CA) in a Capital Valley Conference bout, on Friday, March 28. Oakmont will attempt to move on its 5-1 season record. The Cougars enter the bout with a 4-5 record after their 3-1 league win over Casa Roble (Orangevale, CA).
An outstanding effort by Steven Talbert lifted Christian Brothers Falcons to a 5-0 win in seven innings over the Oakmont Vikings on Thursday at Oakmont HS.
Christian Brothers Falcon's Talbert kept the Oakmont Vikings off the scoreboard for all seven innings he was on the mound. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on three hits while ringing up seven.
Rebello ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just 6 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
Christian Brothers Falcons went up for good in the third, scoring two runs on an error and an RBI single by Anthony Calderon.
Christian Brothers Falcons built upon its lead with three runs in the seventh. The inning got off to a hot start when J. Ditto Hallman doubled, scoring Lucas Still. That was followed up by Brendon Gormley's single, bringing home Joe McNamara.
