California High School Baseball - Compton loses to Woodrow WilsonApril 4, 2014: Long Beach, CA 90804
The Woodrow Wilson Bruins baseball team scored 9 runs and limited the visiting Compton Tarbabes to 0 in the Bruins league victory on Friday.
The Bruins (14-4) will now prepare for their match against Tesoro (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA). The Titans go into the non-league match with a 13-3 record. In their last match, Tesoro was overwhelmed by Pacifica (Garden Grove, CA), 3-0, in a non-league match.
The Tarbabes (1-7) will now prepare for their match against Jordan (Long Beach, CA). The Panthers go into the Moore match with a 6-4 record. In their last match, Jordan was overwhelmed by Millikan (Long Beach, CA), 4-0, in a league match.
The Compton Tarbabes batters were no match for the dominant pitching of the LB Wilson Bruins as they were no-hit and lost the game 9-0. The 'Babes' lineup continued their batting slump and whiffed 9 times in the process. Wilson scored in all but one frame and played outstanding defense without making an error. The Bruins led by their outstanding coach, Andy Hall, remain atop the Moore League and showed plenty as they took it to Compton's ace pitcher, Andy Rosales. Rosales once again got no help from his defense that has punctuated the 'Babes' losing season so far this season. Compton playing without several starters in their lineup, have committed a league leading 16 errors in 4 Moore league games. Compton also misplayed routine outs into base hits. With the likes of Wilson slugger Chris Betts who went 2-3 and hit a towering homer to right field, the Bruin batters capitalized on every opportunity the 'Babes' gave them. Rosales, who went the distance, only allowed 1 earned run.
