In Friday's league game, the host Danbury Hatters baseball team scored a tight 3-2 victory over the Darien Blue Wave.
The Hatters (3-7) will now prepare for their game against St. Joseph (Trumbull, CT). The Cadets go into the Fairfield County game with a 9-0 record. In their last game, St. Joseph tipped Wilton (Wilton, CT), 7-1, in a league game.
The Blue Wave (7-2) will now prepare for their game against Stamford (Stamford, CT). The Black Knights go into the Fairfield County game with a 3-6 record. In their last game, Stamford held off McMahon (Norwalk, CT), 9-4, in a league battle.
Justin Hope singled with two out in the bottom of the 7th to plate Connor Goodwin with the winning run as Danbury defeated league-leading Darien 3-2. The Hatters struck early with two in the bottom of the first on an infield hit, error, and a 2-run double to right by Justin Solimine. Darien tied it inn the second on a 2-run single by Arthue Xanthos. Lefties Justin Jordan and Rich Wekerle shut the offenses down through the sixth, with Jordan recording 9 Ks and Wekerle 7. Ryan Solimine relieved Wekerle in the 7th and worked out of a jam to preserve the 2-2 tie.
