The Mercer Island Islanders basketball team won Monday's home non-conference game against Hazen by a score of 61-41.
The Mercer Island Islanders (Mercer Island, WA) basketball felled the visiting Hazen Highlanders (Renton, WA), 61-41 in Monday's non-league test.
The Islanders (2-1) will now prepare for their test against Juanita (Kirkland, WA). The Rebels go into the 3A KingCo test with a 1-5 record. In their last test, Juanita defeated Sammamish (Bellevue, WA), 65-55, in a league test.
The Highlanders now own a 1-1 record. They take the field next when they host Evergreen for a 3A Seamount test on Tuesday, December 9. Hazen will clash with a Wolverines squad coming off a 76-60 league loss to Foster (Tukwila, WA). The Wolverines record now stands at 1-2.

The Islanders went into halftime with a sixteen point lead @ 33 - 17. Gabe Fruchter and Poli each contributed 6 points and Sloan Aikens picked off 5 rebounds off the bench
In a balanced scoring quarter where no player had more than four points, but 8 players scored, the Islanders put the game away with a 21-11 output. MI led 54-28 after three
With the game well in hand, Coach Pepple played his bench the entire fourth quarter. Hazen had their biggest scoring quarter with 13 , but it was too little -too late
