The Mansfield Tigers basketball team lost Tuesday's home non-conference game against rival school Mansfield Summit by a score of 52-36.
The Mansfield Summit Jaguars (Arlington, TX) basketball knocked off the host Mansfield Tigers (Mansfield, TX), 52-36 in Tuesday's non-league test.
The Jaguars (1-0) will now prepare for their test against Humble (Humble, TX). The Wildcats go into the non-league test with a 0-1 record. In their last test, Humble went down by Cypress Falls (Houston, TX), 58-49, in a non-league test.
The Tigers now own a 0-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Arlington for a non-league test on Friday, November 19. Mansfield will clash with a Colts squad coming off a 60-55 non-league win over Seguin (Arlington, TX). The Colts record now stands at 1-0.
Both teams came out sluggish and Summit jumped out to an 8-2 lead on the strength of Wesley Davis'3 pointer and traditional 3 point play, but Mansfield used teamwork to score the last two buckets of the quarter to tighten the game to 8-6 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Summit turned up the defense a notch and were able to score some easy points in this quarter and stretched their lead to 7 points 23-16.
The third quarter was played fairly even as Mansfield HS was able to score some easy baskets on the Summit press, but Summit increased their lead to 35-27.
The fourth quarter began with Summit scoring 8 straight points including two 3 pointers by senior guard Jordan Marshall, who was 3-7 from beyond the arc. Summit stretched out the lead to 20 points and coasted to a 16 point victory, 52-36.
