The Bingham Miners (South Jordan, UT) basketball felled the host Lehi Pioneers (Lehi, UT), 76-67 in Tuesday's league test.
The Miners (9-12) will now prepare for their test against Riverton (Riverton, UT). The Silverwolves go into the 5A Region 4 test with a 8-10 record. In their last test, Riverton went down by American Fork (American Fork, UT), 56-53, in a league test.
The Pioneers now own a 10-8 record. They take the field next when they host Pleasant Grove for a 5A Region 4 test on Friday, February 10. Lehi will clash with a Vikings squad coming off a 83-48 league loss to Lone Peak (Highland, UT). The Vikings record now stands at 3-13.
Bingham scored the first 7 points of the game and ended up with 17 to end the first quarter. Lehi finally got going and scored 15 and the score at the end of one quarter is 17 to 15 for Bingham.
Bingham outscored Lehi by 14 points in the second quarter and went into half time with a 16 point lead. Bingham's Bensen scored 16 of the 25 second quarter points. The score at the end of the first half is Bingham 42 and Lehi 26.
Bingham got the lead up to at least 20 points to start the second half. Lehi came back though and Bingham went into the final quarter with 14 point lead.
Lehi never gave up and at one time in the fourth quarter cut the lead to 1 point and had a chance to take the lead. Bingham made 17 foul shots in the quarter as Lehi was forced to foul and the final score was Bingham 76 and Lehi 67. Lehi made 4 more field goals that Bingham but Bingham made 12 more free throws. Bingham made 9 three point shots to just 4 for Lehi. Bignham's Bensen scored 32 points in the game while nailing 7 3 point shots. Colton Colledge lead Lehi with 19 points. Blake Cleveringa scored 17, Ryan Christofferson 14 and Brad Mc Gregor 11 to lead the Pioneers.
