The Perry County Central Commodores basketball team won Saturday's home non-conference game against Harlan County by a score of 52-42.
Perry County Central Commodores (Hazard, KY) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Harlan County Black Bears (Harlan, KY), 52-42 in a non-league bout.
With the win, Perry County Central upgrades its record to 20-4 on the season. The Commodores travel to Knott County Central (Hindman, KY) to play the Patriots in a non-league bout on Thursday, February 9. The Patriots go into the bout with a record of 22-2. Knott County Central won 63-49 in their recent non-league bout against Powell County (Stanton, KY)
Next up, the Black Bears play the Buckhorn Wildcats (Buckhorn, KY) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, February 7. Harlan County will attempt to upgrade on its 21-3 season record.
Junior center Dalton Cornett (6'6) didn't need to score much to make an impact. In addition to his 4 points, he also had 13 rebounds and 13 blocks, and took 3 charges.Senior forward Jaysean Paige chipped in 17 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 2 deflections and 3 blocks.8th grade guard Braxton Beverly had a game high 25 points, along with 5 rebounds and 6 assists.
