In Tuesday's league match, the host West Warwick Wizards basketball team scored a good 78-68 triumph over the Shea Raiders.
In their next game, the Wizards confront the Tolman Tigers (Pawtucket, RI) in a Division II - Central match, on Friday, January 27. West Warwick will attempt to better on its 13-1 season record. The Tigers enter the match with a 5-6 record after their 63-48 non-league loss to Chariho (Wood River Junction, RI).
With the defeat, Shea moves to 10-3 on the year. The Raiders host Westerly (Westerly, RI) to confront the Bulldogs in a non-league match on Friday, January 27. The Bulldogs enter the match with a record of 10-4. Westerly lost 86-64 in their recent non-league match against North Providence (North Providence, RI)
The Wizards of West Warwick, who were determined to avenge their only loss of the season, jumped out to a 44-28 half-time lead over the Athletic Raiders of Shea.
Senior Elijah Saintfleur scored 11 points inside the paint and Senior John Morrison (four three pointers) scored 16 points to lead the Wizards.
Shea's leading scorer, Jordy Brito, was held to 4 points in the first half.
Although Shea made several runs at the Wizards in the second half, they could not overcome a 16 point half-time deficit and lost to the Wizards, 78-68.
Shea (11-3 overall) fell to 7-3 in Division II play, while the West Warwick (13-1 overall) improved to 10-0 in league play.
Leading the way for Shea were Michael "MJ" Neal (10 points), Jordy Brito (11 points), and Kenric Carter (22 points).
The Wizards received support from Ryan Lawton (20 points and 11 rebounds), John Morrison (21 points and 6 assists), Elijah Saintfleur (15 points and 10 rebounds), Brad Young (7 points), Cory Thibault (6 points), and Kody Greenhalgh (6 points).
