The Glenelg Gladiators basketball team (Glenelg, MD), dropped 54-45 in Wednesday's league battle with the host Atholton Raiders (Columbia, MD)
The Raiders now sport a 5-7 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Oakland Mills for a Howard County battle on Friday, January 12. Atholton will battle a Scorpions team coming off a 67-40 league win over Howard (Ellicott City, MD). The Scorpions record now stands at 7-3.
The Gladiators (5-7) will now prepare for their battle against Centennial (Ellicott City, MD). The Eagles come into the Howard County battle with a 5-5 record.
Down 4-8 with about 4 minutes to go in the first quarter, the Raiders started running and outscored the Gladiators 13-0 over the last four minutes to take a 17 to 8 lead. With a methodical inside game, Glenelg cut the lead to 3 at the half and the game got closer in the third quarter and even took the lead by a point early in the 4th quarter before the Raiders got the running game going again and they pulled away for a 54-45 win.
Justin Oates led the Raiders with 19 points, 10 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists.
