Arizona High School Football - Chaparral victorious over Mesquite
(September 16, 2010: Scottsdale, AZ 85253) The Chaparral Firebirds (Scottsdale, AZ) football overcame the visiting Mesquite Wildcats (Gilbert, AZ), 48-21 in Thursday's non-league bout.
In their next game, the Firebirds clash with the North Canyon Rattlers (Phoenix, AZ) in a 5A Desert Valley bout, on Friday, September 24. Chaparral will attempt to move on its 4-0 season record. The Rattlers enter the bout with a 3-0 record after their 41-36 non-league win over Corona del Sol (Tempe, AZ).
The Wildcats (3-1) will now prepare for their bout against Corona del Sol (Tempe, AZ). The Aztecs enter the 5A Central bout with a 1-3 record. In their last bout, Corona del Sol was toppled by North Canyon (Phoenix, AZ), 41-36, in a non-league bout.

Mesquites first scoring drive began with 2:13 on the clock in the 1st Quarter. They began their drive from their own 1 yard line. It included 9 plays and 2 first downs. Austin Curtis (#43)broke loose from a pile of Chaparral tacklers for a huge 45 yard run up the middle. Josh Sabol (#8) took a pass from Trammell (#17) for a 7 yard gain. MHS scored when Anthony Lopez (#5)scampered around the left end and down the south sideline 37 yards for a TD. Devin Foy (#30) added the PAT.

With 10:46 remaining in the 4th Quarter Bevan (#6) was sent in to replace Trammell at QB. Starting from MHS own 20 yard line, Bevan lead the Wildcats on an 80 yard scoring drive in 5 plays picking up a first down along the way. A wide open Zach Borns (#32) hauled in a 15 yard pass from Bevan and then Borns picks up another 30 yards after the catch. A bad snap from center causes the Cats to lose 10 yards. On 2nd down and 17 Bevan goes up the middle for 11 yards to keep the drive alive. On 3rd Down with 10 yards to go, Bevan drops back to pass, he moves around in the pocket and gets the pass off just before crossing the line of scrimage, hitting wide open Dameon Morgan (#4) in stride at the one yard line for a TD. Foy kicks the PAT.
On their next MHs strikes quickly with Bevan hitting Lopez who had streaked past the defenders to catch Bevan's 33 yard pass at Chaparrals 22 yard line, Lopez sprinted to the end zone untouched. Foy added the PAT.
