The Avery County Vikings football team (Newland, NC), was ripped 59-27 in Friday's league challenge with the host Polk County Wolverines (Columbus, NC)
The Wolverines (2-6) will now prepare for their challenge against Mitchell (Bakersville, NC). The Mountaineers come into the Western Highlands 1A/2A challenge with a 6-2 record. In their last challenge, Mitchell trounced Madison (Marshall, NC), 54-0, in a league challenge.
The Vikings now sport a 2-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Charles D. Owen for a Western Highlands 1A/2A challenge on Friday, October 19. Avery County will meet a Warhorses team coming off a 58-14 league loss to Mountain Heritage (Burnsville, NC). The Warhorses record now stands at 2-5.
