Are you ready for the bi-district playoffs Panther Nation?
Tonight's game features the Medina Valley Panthers of Castroville, TX visiting the home of the Leander Glenn Grizzlies.
The Panthers come in off 2 tough division losses, but they showed in those games that they can play with anyone.
The Panthers finished the regular season with a record of 7-3, while the Glenn Grizzlies sported a 6-4 record to lead District 13.
A familiar opponent for both schools is Marble Falls who beat Glenn handily in their matchup this year 28-7.
Meanwhile the Panthers last played Marble Falls when they were district opponents in 2017, scoring 50 and beating Marble Falls handily.
This Glenn team is fast, however, and one key to the game tonight is for the Panther Defense to keep that speed in check on the outside.
The Panthers, on the other hand, bring their own weapons. The rushing attack is lethal with Gipson leading the way as a power back.
Glenn speedsters have nothing on Logan Masters who will try to find a lane on the outside. Once he's free...he's gone.
Rounding out the Panther's rushing attack, Wesley Pardo, Jacob Salas and Kaiden Hernandez have used the trap play with effectiveness
The Panther O-line has contributed to the strong ground game, and they've given Alek Child protection. He's taken very few sacks this year
Child has shown the ability to get the ball deep, throw across his body on the run, and he executes his fakes well.
Child is most effective when he can drop back in the pocket, and when you combine a strong ground game with a clutch air game, you go 7-3
But let's not forget that Panther Defense. The D-line and Linebackers have come up huge for the Panthers
Snider, Weir & Modgling have been strong all year. The D-Line has been up to the task as well.
Groff has shown a lot of consistency in the kicking game, and Panther receivers Ryan McCauley and Garrett Leggitt are deep threats
Coach Chris Soza and his team have really taken this Panther program to the next level.
The heart and soul of the program isn't just what happens under Friday night lights.
Between the Fridays, the effort these kids and coaches put in is extraordinary, and its starting to pay dividends.
Stay tuned for the 7:30 Kickoff. We have a lot of exciting 5A-2 bi-district football action on tap tonight. This should be exciting.
Glenn had a couple of uncharacteristic key fumbles in their last match-up to finish off district play with a loss.
On Defense they were kept in the game by a defensive fumble recovery for a touchdown.
The self-reported Glenn game plan tonight is to stop James Gipson. That is easier said than done.
The Glenn Grizzlies expect to be double teamed tonight to keep linebackers in check. Spencer Payne, Panthers Center will lead the charge.
MV uses a similar offense to Liberty Hill who took care of this Leander Glenn team 49-21 this season.
A size differential for the MV O-line could prove too much to handle for Glenn. If Gipson gets a seam consistently, he could dominate
This MV team has the ability to play a grinding running game and control possession for long periods.
But the Panthers can also play the spread, and have speed at the WR position, and a QB with the arm to get the ball deep.
We are almost ready for the coin toss folks.
Medina Valley has won the toss, and has elected to receive. Hernandez, Bippert and McCauley back to receive.

Correction, Glenn will get the ball back after the second HALF kickoff
We are still at half time in Leander. The Panthers fortunate to be down only by one score having lost the turnover battle 3-0
MV will need to adjust. Gipson is not getting the room up the middle he is used to seeing. The Glenn D-line is doing a good job
Perhaps the Panthers will spread the field a little to get the running game going.
We saw the Panthers have some success with the screen, where Gipson almost broke one. Anything to keep the Glenn defense guessing
Expecting the run with no wideouts in formation, Glenn is stacking the box and largely stuffing the Panther running game
District Scoreboard-East View 7 @ Alamo Heights 21
District Scoreboard- Bastrop 28, Tivy 14
District Scoreboard- Boerne Champion 7 @ Brenham 13
The Panthers are taking the field to begin warmups.
What adjustments will the Panthers make at the half? They are still very much in this game, but will need to make a stop early
Looking for the Panthers to open up the short passing game to give Gipson and Masters more room
The line on both sides of the ball will have to start winning the battle in the trenches. This Panther team has the size to compete
