Ohio High School Basketball - Barberton ripped by Norton
(November 20, 2007: Norton, OH 44203) In Tuesday's non-league match, the host Norton Panthers basketball team scored a decisive 52-22 triumph over the Barberton Magics.
In their next game, the Panthers confront the Lake Blue Streaks (Uniontown, OH) in a non-league match, on Monday, November 26. Norton will attempt to move on its 2-0 season record. The Blue Streaks enter the match with a 3-1 record after their 56-52 non-league win over North Royalton (North Royalton, OH).
With the defeat, Barberton moves to 0-1 on the year. The Magics host Revere (Richfield, OH) to confront the Minutemen in a Suburban match on Saturday, November 24. The Minutemen enter the match with a record of 1-1. Revere won 64-39 in their recent non-league match against Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy (Cuyahoga Falls, OH)
First Quarter Summary
Norton jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead and then the 2nd unit went in and Barberton kept the score close 11-3 by the end of the quarter.
Second Quarter Summary
Again the Panthers struck quick to jump to a 20-4 lead and the Magics were able to staty close 22-8 by the end of the quarter. Coach Miller allowed his 7-12 players to play extended minutes and they allowed the Magics to stay close.
Third Quarter Summary
Norton came out of halftime to score 6 quick points to lead 30-10 and Coach again went to the bench looking to get more girls minutes to stabilize the rotation. The magics were able to finish the quarter trailing 31-17. Katie Erwin and Natalie Cook continue to be the 1-2 punch inside.
Fourth Quarter Summary
The Panther starters enter the quarter with a quick 8-0 run to go up 39-17 and the game was over. The reserves enter and maintain the lead as the final score was 52-22.
Katie Erwin scores 13 points and grabs 8 rebounds in only 20 minutes. Natalie Cook adds 13 points and grabs a team high 11 rebounds. Both were dominant inside. Jenna Edwards added 11 points.
