The Lincoln Rail Splitters basketball team (Philadelphia, PA), was overwhelmed 63-41 in Friday's non-league battle with the visiting University City Jaguars (Philadelphia, PA)
The Jaguars now possess a 10-4 record. They play next when they host Kensington for a non-league battle on Monday, February 1. University City will battle a team coming off a 49-36 league loss to Northeast (Philadelphia, PA). The record now stands at 3-6.
The Rail Splitters (5-6) will now prepare for their battle against South Philadelphia (Philadelphia, PA). The Rams come into the non-league battle with a 5-5 record. In their last battle, South Philadelphia was overwhelmed by Central (Philadelphia, PA), 63-48, in a league battle.
A slow start including a couple of missed layups and smoe turnovers kept it close in the quarter as A.Minor hit a 3 for Lincoln as the first points of the game. Antoinette robinson tied the score with a 3 for UCity. The Lady Jags missed 5 of 6 Free throws during the quarter. Mykea Hall scored both of her baskets in the frame and led the team with 4 points.
Shakerah Frye and Quinnie Washington each scored 6 points in the quarter which led to a 10 point Lady Jaguar halftime lead.
Tarri huckaby for Lincoln scored 13 of their 17 points and Washington added 12 for UCity.
In the end UCity was too strong on the boards. Lynnette Jones scored all 5 her points in the 4th which tied her for the high scorer of the quarter.
