In Saturday's league match, the host Alexander Cougars basketball team scored a good 48-39 triumph over the Paulding County Patriots.
In their next game, the Cougars confront the East Paulding Raiders (Dallas, GA) in a 5-AAAA match, on Tuesday, February 1. Alexander will attempt to better on its 10-10 season record. The Raiders enter the match with a 2-5 record after their 45-31 league loss to Chapel Hill (Douglasville, GA).
With the defeat, Paulding County moves to 0-4 on the year. The Patriots host Woodland (Cartersville, GA) to confront the Wildcats in a non-league match on Tuesday, February 8. The Wildcats enter the match with a record of 2-1.

Cougars ride their lead and play tough "D" holding the Pat's to 5 on the QTR. Favors goes three for three after going two for six in the first for 6pnts. Peacock gets a two and a pair of one's for 4pnts. Qtr ends Cougars 37, Patriots 23.
Patriots break down the Cougars defense somewhat and out score the Cougars 16-11 in the fourth, but still come up short on the total, Cougars WIN 48-39. Favors gets 8Pnts two at a time, and Fasick adds a two and a one for 3Pnts. Favors has a nine rebound game, Shaheed 5, Fasick 4, Burke 2.
