The JSerra Catholic Lions topped the host Woodrow Wilson Bruins basketball team by a final score of 60-49 in Monday's non-league game.
In their next game, the Lions face the Santa Monica Vikings (Santa Monica, CA) in a non-league game, on Tuesday, December 6. JSerra Catholic will attempt to move on its 2-0 season record. The Vikings enter the game with a 3-1 record after their 47-43 non-league win over Saugus (Saugus, CA).

In the second quarter the Bruins could only muster up 4 points. Two each by Joi Bertrand and Lindsey Rainey. They trail J-Serra at the half 20-13.
In the 3rd quarter the Bruins came alive. M. Reed scored 9 of her game high 25 points in the quarter to bring the Lady Bruins to within 32 to 30 at the end of the 3rd quart3.
The Bruins were able to use their pressure defense to get back into the game. They tied the game at 42 with two free throws by Janelle Porter with 2:40 to play. The two teams traded baskets with M.Reed scoring a lay-up on an assist from J. Porter to tie the game at 44. With 1:13 to play M. Reed made 1 of 2 free throws to put the Bruins up 45 to 44. Shelvena Turner stole the inbound pass and passed to Lindsey Rainey who missed an uncontested lay-up. J. Porter made a steal with 30 seconds to go. S. Turner missed a lay-up but M. Reed cleaned the boards and was fouled on the put back. M. Reed made the first free throw for a 46 to 44 lead but missed the second and fouled a J-Serra player trying to get her missed shot. J-Serra made two free throws to send the into overtime and it was downhill for the Bruins from their. The Bruins had a basket from J. Porter and a free throw from Lindsey Rainey for a total of 3 points to fall to J-Serra 60-49.
No juice in the fourth quarter for the Bruins as they out do their 2nd quarter score by scoring only 3 points as they lose to J-Serra 60 to 49 in overtime. The Bruins are now 2-4 on the season.
