Monroe City Panthers (Monroe City, MO) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host South Shelby Cardinals (Shelbina, MO), 53-52 in a league bout.
With the victory, Monroe City upgrades its record to 17-2 on the campaign. The Panthers travel to Knox County (Edina, MO) to play the Eagles in a non-league bout on Wednesday, January 31. The Eagles come into the bout with a record of 5-10. Knox County won 51-39 in their recent league bout against Schuyler County (Lancaster, MO)
Next up, the Cardinals play the Palmyra Panthers (Palmyra, MO) in a Clarence Cannon bout, on Friday, February 2. South Shelby will attempt to upgrade on its 15-5 season record. The Panthers come into the bout with a 12-7 record after their 45-29 league loss to Clark County (Kahoka, MO).
