Palos Verdes Sea Kings (Palos Verdes Estates, CA) followers exited the stadium in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their lacrosse team top the visiting Malibu Sharks (Malibu, CA), 23-4 in a non-league challenge.
The Sea Kings now have a 18-2 record. They take the field next when they host Loyola for a non-league challenge on Monday, May 7. Palos Verdes will meet a Cubs team coming off a 8-4 non-league win over Thousand Oaks (Thousand Oaks, CA). The Cubs record now stands at 14-2.
After a day delay due to a bomb scare at Malibu High, Palos Verdes really dropped the bomb on the Sharks in the quarterfinal game by a score of 23-4...PV scored 12 goals in the first quarter and never looked back, with 13 different players scoring at least one goal.Zack Fixen led the way, scoring 5 goals, while Dean Dillenberg also added 3 goals with 2 assists. Tony Romeri put up an additional 3 goals and Brooks Hawkins and Christian Bender each supplied 2 goals. Also scoring a goal were, Deano Furkioti, Romare Smith, John Romer (3 asst), Jake Macer, Zach Henkhaus, Michael Schladen (2 asst), Augie O'Hern and Sean Ahearn.Sparking the offense was their amazing face-off specialist, Romare Smith who won 21 of 24 draws to continue on his season high average. Grant Cigliano and David McCann were each solid in goal with Grant having 3 saves and David adding 5 more with each giving up only 2 goals.PV takes on Loyola on Monday, May 7th at PV at 4 pm.
