The North Warren Central Cougars (Chestertown, NY) soccer nudged the visiting Granville Golden Horde (Granville, NY), 2-1 in Friday's league bout.
With the win, North Warren Central moves its record to 1-2 on the campaign. The Cougars host Corinth (Corinth, NY) to battle the Tomahawks in a non-league bout on Monday, September 26. The Tomahawks go into the bout with a record of 2-1.
In their next game, the Golden Horde battle the Argyle Scots (Argyle, NY) in a Adriondack bout, on Wednesday, September 28. Granville will attempt to move on its 0-9 season record.
It was a very windy night at the Golden Goal Complex. Granville jumped out to a 1-0 lead half way thru the first half on a beautiful goal from Connor Lennox. Connor came down the left side and received a nice pass from Parker Rescott. Connor took the shot from 30 yards out to the far post side for the goal. North Warren would tie the game late in the first half. Granville continued to play their trademark team concept defending, which kept the game scoreless the second half. 3 minutes into OT North Warren scored to win the game. This is Granville fourth lost by 1 goal in the last 6, second in OT. The boys will play Argyle/Ft. Edward under the lights at home on Wednesday.
