The Crete Cardinals soccer team scored 6 points and limited the visiting Seward Bluejays to 1 in the Cardinals non-league victory on Wednesday.
Next, the Cardinals face the Norris Titans (Firth, NE) in a non-league contest, on Thursday, May 3. Crete will attempt to better on its 12-2 season record. The Titans enter the contest with a 10-5 record after their 4-0 non-league win over Lincoln Lutheran (Lincoln, NE).
The Bluejays now have a 3-12 record.
Crete faced Seward for the third time this season when the bluejays travelled to Crete for one of the semifinal matches held at Papik field. Crete started things off just 2 minutes in when a corner was sent in and rebounded and then placed into the net by Crete's Brian Ortega. Crete's second goal of the match came just 10 minutes later when Harrinson Vicente slammed in a PK. The third and final goal of the half came when Jose Valdez crossed in a ball towards the goal and was misplayed by the Seward keeper and went into the net. Halftime Crete led 3-0. The second half started much like the first. Crete scored just 4 minutes into the second when Anthony Bolanos passed the ball into Alexis Carbajal who slipped the ball past the keeper into the goal. The fifth goal came when Hamilson Vicente passed the ball into the box and found Nick Keola who scored. The final Crete goal was an own goal by Seward after Rafael Sandoval shot the ball at goal and it rebounded towards a Seward player.
