California High School Softball - Simi Valley Royal
(April 9, 2010: Simi Valley, CA 93063) In Friday's non-league outing, the visiting Royal Highlanders softball team scored a close 4-0 win over the Simi Valley Pioneers.
Coming up next, the Highlanders battle the Agoura Chargers (Agoura, CA) in a Marmonte outing, on Tuesday, April 13. Royal will attempt to upgrade on its 14-3 season record. The Chargers enter the outing with a 7-6 record after their 7-6 non-league win over Colton (Colton, CA).
The Pioneers (15-2) will now prepare for their outing against Thousand Oaks (Thousand Oaks, CA). The Lancers enter the Marmonte outing with a 9-5 record. In their last outing, Thousand Oaks tipped Millikan (Long Beach, CA), 9-2, in a non-league outing.
In the championship game of the Arroyo Grande tournament it came down to cross town rivals Simi Valley vs Royal. Nancy Bowling pitched a complete game shutout her 4th of the tournament in 4 games. Giving up just 2 hits while striking out 16 batters to increase her record to 11-1. She also pitched a complete game no hitter earlier in the tournament and was named Tournament MVP. Ali Mosier went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI's and a run scored and was named to the All Tournament Team. Brynn Lesovsky also drove in a run and was also named to the All Tournament Team. Kylene Hatton went 1 for 2 with a walk and also scored a run and was named to the All Tournament Team also. Amber Sanders went 2 for 3 with a triple and a run scored. Taylor Cartwright (Simi Valley) had a double off the left field fence and was named to the All Tourney team. Allison Cook (Simi Valley) was also named to the All Tournament Team.
