Torrey Pines Falcons (San Diego, CA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Fallbrook Warriors (Fallbrook, CA), 5-2 in a non-league challenge.
The Falcons now own a 28-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Mira Mesa for a non-league challenge on Thursday, May 24. Torrey Pines will face a Marauders squad coming off a 3-2 non-league win over Otay Ranch (Chula Vista, CA). The Marauders record now stands at 26-4.
With the loss, Fallbrook moves to 21-13 on the season.
The Torrey Pines Falcons defeated the Fallbrook Warriors 5-2 at Torrey Pines on Tuesday to advance to the San Diego Section Division One Semi-finals. The Falcons tied the school record for wins in a season improving to 28-6 on the year. The much improved Fallbrook Warriors ender their magical season with a 21-13 overall record. Senior Pitcher, Taylor Lee (Cal) threw 5 no hit innings to improve her record to 6-3 on the season. Junior, Rachel Nasland (Notre Dame) pitched 2 innings of relief to gain her 3rd save on the season. Senior shortstop, Lauren Filicia (Fairfield) led the Falcons on offense going 3-3 with 2 runs scored and a Double. Freshmen Shelbianne Evans went 1-2 with a Double, a run scored and 2 RBI's for the winners. Junior Lauren Bower added a triple for Torrey Pines while Taylor Lee also went 2-3 with a double and an RBI for the Falcons who will meet Mira Mesa at 3:00 P.M. in the Semi-finals on Thursday at Poway Sportsplex Park.
