The Torrey Pines Falcons the host Mira Mesa Marauders softball squad by a final score of 4-2 in Thursday's non-league battle.
The Falcons (30-6) will now prepare for their battle against Poway (Poway, CA). The Titans go into the non-league battle with a 14-11 record. In their last battle, Poway held off Mira Mesa (San Diego, CA), 4-1, in a non-league battle.
The Marauders now possess a 26-5 record.
The Torrey Pines Falcons advanced to the CIFSDS Division One semi-finals with a big 4-2 victory over Mira Mesa yesterday before an overflow crowd at the Poway Sportsplex Park. Junior Right-Handed Pitcher, Rachel Nasland (Notre Dame) was dominating in the circle for the Falcons throwing a 3 hittter with 15 strike outs against the San Diego Sections best hitting team. Nasland was touched for a double and 2 solo home runs but she threw 70 strikes in her 94 pitch, 3 hitter to impove to 17-2 on the season for Torrey Pines. The Falcons scored first in the home 2nd inning on a Lauren Hynes (Boston U) double, a wild pitch and an RBI single by Freshmen Catcher, Shelbianne Evans. Senior Taylor Lee (Cal) hit a long 2 run home run to push the Falcon lead to 3-0 and a Hynes RBI Single scored Sophomore Emily Wolking to give the Falcons a 4-0 cushion after 5 frames. Torrey Pines improves to 29-6 on the year while Mira Mesa finished the Brad Griffith coaching era with a final record of 25-6-1 record.
