A five-run first inning took the drama out of this one early as O'Connell posted an impressive 7-0 triumph over always-tough McNamara behind the two-hit shutout pitching of Kathryn Sandercock. The junior flamethrower struck 13 and surrendered just the two hits, both bunts. She also delivered at the plate with a run-scoring double in the second inning.
Caitlin Jorae (a single) and Leah Hammes (a double) set the table, and Patty Maye Ohanian delivered with a two-run single. Kayla Turner followed up with an RBI double, plating Ohanian. Elizabeth Hoeymans drove Turner home with a run-scoring single. Moments later, she scored on Meadow Sacadura's hard groundout to second base. At the end of one, it was 5-0, Knights.
A Hammes single, Sandercock double and Ohanian single pushed two more runs across in the second inning for the final margin of victory, 7-0.
