The Caledonia-Mumford Raiders the host Avon Braves softball squad by a final score of 5-3 in Wednesday's league battle.
The Raiders (10-1) will now prepare for their battle against Le Roy (Le Roy, NY). The Knights go into the Livingston County Division 2 battle with a 2-3 record. In their last battle, Le Roy held off Letchworth (Gainesville, NY), 8-1, in a league battle.
The Braves now possess a 8-2 record. They play next when they travel to Warsaw for a Livingston County Division 2 battle on Friday, May 4. Avon will meet a Tigers squad coming off a 16-1 non-league win over Pavilion (Pavilion, NY). The Tigers record now stands at 10-2.
Cal-Mum struck first in the top of the first as Grace Walker led off with a single and Mackenzie Wilson was hit by a pitch. Both runners advanced on a double steal and both eventually scored on a wild pitch and then a passed ball. Avon tied the game in the bottom of the first as Katrina Yencer led off with a slap single down the third base line and Keni Read followed with a single. Joleigh Crye drove in the first run with a double and the second run scored on a grounder to short by Ari Walker. Cal-Mum regained the lead in the top of the third as Walker led off with a double and scored on a single by Andrea Coyle. The Raiders added two more runs in the fifth with Coyle hitting a two out triple to score Montgomery Kessler who had led the inning off with a single. Meghan Mietlicki followed Coyle with an rbi single. The Braves closed out the scoring in the bottom of the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Abby Decillis following consecutive singles by Yencer and Read.
