In Tuesday's league contest, the Sprayberry Yellowjackets (Marietta, GA) volleyball squad nudged the host Creekview Grizzlies (Canton, GA), by a margin of 2-1.
Next up, the Yellowjackets face the Pope Greyhounds (Marietta, GA) in a 7-AAAA contest, on Tuesday, September 27. Sprayberry will attempt to better on its 22-5 season record. The Greyhounds go into the contest with a 25-2 record after their 2-0 non-league win over Walker (Marietta, GA).
With the loss, Creekview moves to 1-3 on the year. The Grizzlies travel to Cherokee (Canton, GA) to face the Warriors in a non-league contest on Thursday, September 29. The Warriors go into the contest with a record of 0-1.
MARIETTA — Creekview and Sprayberry were each three points away from winning their Area 7AAAA match Tuesday night, with the score was knotted at 22-all.But the Lady Yellow Jackets just happened to have their strongest servers coming up, and it was the serving that lifted them to a 25-14, 18-25, 26-24 victory at Kell.Seventh-ranked Sprayberry (22-5) completed the sweep with a 25-11, 25-21 win over Kell earlier in the night.Creekview (19-14) went on to split the tri-match with a 25-17, 25-18 victory over the Lady Longhorns.When a costly passing error by Creekview late in the third set cut the Lady Grizzlies’ lead to 22-21, that’s when Devin Judge, Sprayberry’s strongest server, took the ball, and Judge proceeded to serve an ace to even the final set at 22-all.Judge’s next serve set up a solo block by Taina Joseph, which give Sprayberry the lead, before an untouched ace off Judge’s serve set up match point.
