MARIETTA — Creekview and Sprayberry were each three points away from winning their Area 7AAAA match Tuesday night, with the score was knotted at 22-all.
But the Lady Yellow Jackets just happened to have their strongest servers coming up, and it was the serving that lifted them to a 25-14, 18-25, 26-24 victory at Kell.
Seventh-ranked Sprayberry (22-5) completed the sweep with a 25-11, 25-21 win over Kell earlier in the night.
Creekview (19-14) went on to split the tri-match with a 25-17, 25-18 victory over the Lady Longhorns.
When a costly passing error by Creekview late in the third set cut the Lady Grizzlies’ lead to 22-21, that’s when Devin Judge, Sprayberry’s strongest server, took the ball, and Judge proceeded to serve an ace to even the final set at 22-all.
Judge’s next serve set up a solo block by Taina Joseph, which give Sprayberry the lead, before an untouched ace off Judge’s serve set up match point.
