Florida High School Volleyball - Florida School for the Deaf crushed by St. Johns Country Day
(October 3, 2011: Orange Park, FL 32073) The St. Johns Country Day Spartans topped the visiting Florida School for the Deaf Dragons volleyball team by a score of 3-0 in Monday's league test.
The Spartans now have a 5-8 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Clay for a non-league test on Wednesday, October 5. St. Johns Country Day will meet a Blue Devils team coming off a 3-0 league loss to Creekside (Jacksonville, FL). The Blue Devils record now stands at 8-11.
The Dragons (2-9) will now prepare for their game against St. Francis Catholic (Gainesville, FL). The Wolves enter the 3A District 3 game with a 12-6 record. In their last game, St. Francis Catholic defeated Oak Hall (Gainesville, FL), 3-0, in a league game.
Tonight was a rollercoaster and not the fun kind. The girls fought back from 10 points behind and almost caught up in the first game, but there just wasn’t enough time. The second game wasn’t very pretty for the majority of the game. The girls started breaking down and pointing fingers. Towards the end, they started to come back together as a team, but it was just too late in the game. The third game, the girls got a good lead, but then lead SJCDS come back and take control of the game. This was not my team from Tuesday that beat St. Joe. I sure hope they can shake off their Homecoming rust and come back to play some Dragon Volleyball on Wednesday!
