The Norwell Knights volleyball team lost Tuesday's home non-conference match against Fort Wayne Northrop by a score of 3-1.
Game Details: Norwell
The Northrop Bruins volleyball team scored 3 points and restricted the host Norwell Knights to 1 in the Bruins non-league triumph on Tuesday.
The Bruins (1-0) will now prepare for their challenge against Bishop Luers (Fort Wayne, IN). The Knights come into the non-league challenge with a 0-0 record.
Next, the Knights encounter the Heritage Patriots (Monroeville, IN) in a non-league challenge, on Thursday, August 18. Norwell will attempt to move on its 1-1 season record.
A competitive and highly entertaining early season match that was a thrill to experience. Norwell having lost their starting setter to an ankle injury the previous night was able to pull out the five game victory in that contest, but the Northrop Bruins were able to take advantage of the new setter and emerge with a victory on the Knights home court. Outside hitters from both teams were relentless in their attack and both offenses seemed to abandon any other attacking option in games 3 and 4. Early season mishaps, miscommunications and confusion gave way to sheer determination and neither team was willing to let the win escape their grasp. With Northorp taking a 2-0 lead the Norwell Knights could have let the match slip away but controlled game 3 from nearly the opening serve. Northrop rallied in game 4 to open a 4 point lead through the middle of the set, before Norwell found some rhythm and took a late 23-21 lead before falling to Northrop 27-25 in the games deciding set.
