The Riverside Pirates topped the visiting Orange Panthers volleyball team by a score of 3-1 in Monday's non-league test.
The Pirates now have a 16-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to East Chapel Hill for a 4A PAC 6 test on Thursday, September 29.
The Panthers (9-3) will now prepare for their test against Chapel Hill (Chapel Hill, NC). The Tigers enter the 3A Carolina test with a 14-1 record. In their last test, Chapel Hill gained a win over Northern (Durham, NC), 3-0, in a non-league test.
On Monday, the Riverside Lady Pirates won a 3-1 match victory over the Orange High School Panthers. Riverside was led by Kira Speer with 21 kills and 10 digs. Olivia Williams had 19 kills and 15 digs. BriaAnna Berry was a major contributor with 8 big blocks and 8 kills out of the middle. Riverside's defense was led by Casey Speer with 18 digs, 2 assists and 1 ace. Victoria Pearce chipped in 6 digs 2 assists and 2 aces. Quarterbacking the offense was Madeline McCallie who finished the night with 51 assists, 7 digs and 3 blocks. Riverside ran a 5-1 offense for the first time this season. The match was a complete team effort with contributions and leadership coming from many different players. Riverside is now 16-1 overall and 6-0 in the PAC 6 conference.
