Valor Christian (Ranked 6th in 4A) and Regis Jesuit (Ranked 2nd in 5A) played a great opening round match of the annual Regis Gold Crown Tournament. After both teams settled down from first set jitters, the teams fought tooth and nail. In set three, teams exchanged sideouts at 24-24, 25-25, and 26-26 with Regis taking the set. Not discouraged, Valor Christian came out well in the fourth set but ended falling short as the #2 ranked Raiders emerged victorious. Coach Nielsen said, "There is good reason why Regis is ranked 2nd in 5A here in Colorado. They are an extremely talented team and well disciplined in their movements. It is obvious they have had some great coaching."Regis continues in the winner's bracket at the tournament with Holy Family, while Valor moves to the loser bracket to face Pueblo South.
