In Saturday's non-league battle, the visiting Marionville Comets volleyball team scored a 2-0 triumph over the Plato Eagles.
The Comets (14-8) will now prepare for their battle against Pleasant Hope (Pleasant Hope, MO). The Pirates come into the Mid-Lakes battle with a 0-7 record. In their last battle, Pleasant Hope lost by Marionville (Marionville, MO), 2-0, in a non-league battle.
Next, the Eagles encounter the New Salem Baptist Academy (Marble Hill, MO) in a non-league battle, on Monday, October 6. Plato will attempt to advance on its 0-9 season record.
The Marionville Comets completed a perfect day without dropping a set in winning the Championship game over the Plato Eagles convincingly with a 25-9 and 25-12 victory. Marionville moved its season record to 14-8. The Comets were led offensively by Josie Young with four kills and Brooklyn Horn with three kills. Senior outside hitter Brooke Eshleman led the Comets in digs with eleven, while senior setter Kendall Minge added ten digs and junior Kyrah Reavis contributed nine digs. Kyrah was also perfect serving and in serve reception. Kyrah was 12-12 serving for eight points and eight for eight in serve reception chances. Brooklyn Horn also was perfect serving, also going 12 for 12 with eight points. Junior Abbie Hopkins added three solo blocks while Josie Young added two blocks.
