The crowd at Monday's non-league bout between the Marionville Comets (Marionville, MO) and the host Spokane Owls (Spokane, MO), saw Marionville's volleyball squad nip Spokane by a tally of 2-1.
With the win, Marionville upgrades its record to 19-9 on the year. The Comets travel to Clever (Clever, MO) to play the Blue Jays in a non-league bout on Tuesday, October 21. The Blue Jays go into the bout with a record of 19-12. Clever won 2-1 in their recent non-league bout against Blue Eye (Blue Eye, MO)
The Owls now own a 0-9 record.
In opening round action of the District Volleyball Tournament the Marionville Comets prevailed over the Spokane Owls in three sets. Marionville survived a spirited comeback by the Owls to force a third and deciding set, but the Comets dug deep in moving their overall record to 19-9. Senior Josie Young led the Comets with six kills and five big blocks at the net. Sophomore Kymbra Kirby added six kills while senior outside hitter Brooklyn Horn added four kills. Senior outside hitter Brooke Eshleman led the Comets in digs with 16 followed closely by Bailie Stine with fourteen. For the match the Comets totaled eleven total blocks.
