The Varsity Opponent volleyball team (, ), was edged 3-2 in Monday's non-league challenge with the host Bloomfield Christian School Defenders (Bloomfield Hills, MI)
The Defenders (3-4) will now prepare for their challenge against Auburn Hills Christian (Auburn Hills, MI). The Cougars come into the Freelance challenge with a 1-0 record. In their last challenge, Auburn Hills Christian nudged Bloomfield Christian School (Bloomfield Hills, MI), 3-1, in a league challenge.
Next, the encounter the StoneGate Christian Academy Lions (Irving, TX) in a TAPPS 1A District 4 challenge, on Monday, September 26. Varsity Opponent will attempt to move on its 58-164 season record. The Lions come into the challenge with a 7-12 record after their 3-0 league loss to Waxahachie Prep (Waxahachie, TX).
The Bloomfield Christian Defenders (Bloomfield Hills) defeated the Springfield Christian Eagles (Clarkston) in 5 sets (22-25, 25-20, 24-26, 25-12, 15-8) in varsity volleyball action on Monday night in Bloomfield Hills. The hosting Defenders dropped a hard fought first set, before winning the second set fueled by junior libero Maxine Gungab's 6 aces. The Defenders once again dropped a close third set, before storming back to win the fourth set in dominant fashion, with the team serving 9 aces in the set. Gungab once again dominated the game in the fifth, holding serve for the last six points to lead the Defenders to a win. She finished the night with a season high 9 aces.
With the win, the Defenders improved to 3-4 on the season (2-2 WCC).
