Corinth came in tonight ready to take it to West after last week's 3 set loss at Corinth, and even with one of Corinth's best players out --a potential all conference performer-- the Lady Pirates came out and played a spirited 1st set. Tack on the 3rd game in 3 days for West and the 1st week of school, and one has the formula for an upset. Though West did come out flat, the Wildcats managed to find a way to win that critical 1st set, 30-28. The 2nd set revealed one of the best sets of the year for an attacker, Sr. Lauren Hesse, who made kill after outstanding kill. West played better all the way around and also started to display precise serving, which led to many easy points. The 3rd set was about taking care of business, and the West girls did just that and finished off the match 25-16 with continued good serving, complemented by solid passing to go along with timely hitting.
