Her numbers say it all, but scratching deeper than the surface, she has been an incredible assett both on and off the field. Going into CIF, Gano is batting.655, and if that is not remarkable I can tell you her league batting average is well above that. She has played in every game for the Bearcats both defensively and offensively. No matter what the situation she made it to the field and was a successful mentor to her teammates. Her slugging percentage and On base percentage also placed her as number one in Hacienda league standings. As far as defense, she showed incredible range in almost every game. She made those types of plays that made fans say wow!! Not many players will get a chance to be leaded by a division 1 bound athlete, and she definetly fulfilled this role. She kept her team motivated, and pushed to get the best out of them. You could constantly hearing her team to "cluth up." Freshman Sanchez another Bearcat Hacienda leader, learned alot from her and will miss her next year. Gano contributed in 118 outs for the Bearcats thus far, this year, and a .992 fielding percentage.
Bearcats pick up two more victories this week, which place them as the number one seed from the Hacienda League. Gano went 7 for 10, with 3 doubles, and 2 homeruns. Not only did she maintain to continue her off the chart batting average, but she picked up 2 homeruns in one game.
With a big game against West Covina, the Bearcats showed why they are a top ranked team. They played well, and executed when they needed to. Freshman pitcher Sanchez, found herself in some tuff positions Friday afternoon, but pushed through and allowed her talent to shine through. Even her teammate said,"But when she faced pressure, she came through for us. That's what you like to see. To get out of the bases-loaded jam and get out of the seventh. That's why we depend on her." Bearcats shortstop gave it her all last week, and her batting average is a clear reflection of just that. She went 8 for 8 , with 6 singles a triple, and a double.
Costa showed her offensive skills at the Diamond Ranch game. She picked up a RBI in the first inning scoring the Bearcats 1st run of the game. She followed with another line drive down the middle in the 2nd inning, and hit a 3rd consecutive single right down the middle in the 4th. A great performance leading her into the 2nd half of the season.
Whitt has shined all season , but she really declared herself this week. Not only did she have a homerun in the West Covina game but she took charge in the Rowland game. Whitt who was already 4-4 was to be intentionally walked; however on ball 4 the pitcher didnt get it out of the zone far enough and Whitt saw a chance to win the game and lined up the middle for a base hit, scoring the Bearcats winning run, and her 3rd RBI.
With the Bearcats biggest game on the line O'Malley continued her hitting streak. She not only started off the 5th inning with a solo-homerun, but got a clinch 2 RBI-double in the top of the 7th. She continues to always make progress and put the ball in play.
Orozco peeked through this week. In Thursday's game against Walnut she batted 1.000 and hit in the tenth run. She helped her Bearcats walk off the field in the bottom of the 6th run ruling their opponent
Defense played a key role in the 4 win Championship this past weekend. Gano had incredible range at shortstop, and made some plays that got the Bearcats out of some sticky situations. Not only did she make some plays that reminded you what the game was about, but she also contributed to her team with her batting. She had 14 At Bats and 9 hits, including a Homerun.
Congratulations to Bree for currently holding the title for highest batting average in the Hacienda League after 9 games. In the past week's San Dimas Tornament Sandoval had 13 plate appearances, 12 at bats, 5 runs, 7 hits, 2 RBI's, and 1 BB. I look forward to continue seeing her dominate in the batter's box.
WITH BONITA'S FIRST TOURNAMENT UNDER IT'S BELT, FRESHMAN PITCHER ANISSA SANCHEZ PROVED TO BE A VERY IMPORTANT ASSETT TO HER TEAM. SHE STARTED EVERY GAME FOR THIS WEEKEND'S PALM SPRINGS TOURNAMENT. SHE CAME OUT STRONG AND BATTLED THROUGH EACH SITUATION ASSISTING HER TEAM IN RECLAIMING THEIR CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE IN PALM SPRINGS. NOT ONLY DID SHE PERFORM ON THE MOUND; A HOMERRUN AND A DOUBLE WERE JUST SOME OF THE RESULTS AT THE PLATE. IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME SHE UTILIZED HER SUPPORTIVE DEFENSE AND HELD ON TO A SHUTOUT. SANCHEZ WAS NAMED MVP FOR THE PALM SPRINGS TOURNAMENT
