Melvin had a break out game at State. In what would end up being the score that would seal the win, Melvin stripped the ball from Gaffney Quarterback Joey Copeland and ran it back for a touchdown, giving the Rebels a 31-17 lead. The Rebels would hang on to win their 11th State Title in school history by a score of 31-24.
Shane picked off Riverside QB Greg Polastrini twice. The two interceptions totaled 133 yards and resulted in two touchdowns.
Shuler had 17 completions for 240 passing yards and 4 touchdowns. His longest pass was to Akia Booker for 46 yards.
Rashad "Doc" Dillard had a great night against T.L. Hanna. He made several tackles for loss, and recorded two sacks.
Shakeem led the Rebels on the ground with 16 carries and 156 yards on the ground. He helped the Rebels set a dominant tone early in the game with a 73 yard touchdown run at the 11:15 mark in the first quarter. By the end of the game, Shakeem would have four touchdowns.
At the Blue Grass Football Classic in Louisville, the Rebels dominated the Ballard Bruins. Davon Terry showed why he is a defensive player to be reckoned with. Davon picked off Ballard QB Tyler Owen and returned the interception 31 yards for a touchdown. His second defensive touchdown came in the second quarter when he returned a fumble and returned it 10 yards for the score.
