For the seniors of Calvert last game many shined but consistently on the side of special teams, Ray Hayes has shown a strong effort in every week. He has scored 30 points on the season including the 24 yard field goal scored in this final contest.
In a tough loss, junior quarterback, Jermaine Hunter (#7) produced once again with an outstanding offensive performance by rushing the ball 9 times for 106 yards. He connected in the air for a 4 yard TD to senior running back, Ramond Gray (#22). He also received a great play from junior receiver, Datavious Thomas (#4) who hauled in 2 great catches for a total of 38 yards.
Junior quarterback, Jermaine Hunter (#7) shines on offense by rushing the ball 10 times for 145 yards. He scored twice on the ground and threw a 31 yard strike to senior tight end, Cody Sisco (#33) for a throwing TD.
Senior defensive tackle, Dae'Shawn Johnson (#50) recorded 4 total tackles and also scored the first defensive TD of the season for the Cavaliers. Senior outside linebacker, Stanton Chase (#3) would get credit for forcing the fumble but it was Dae'Shawn who scooped the ball up and scampered 15 yards for the TD.
Senior running back and linebacker, Stewart Brooks (#34), played in a tough contest and finished with 90 rushing yards on 10 carries and added a 22 yard reception on the offensive side of the ball. He also accumulated 10 total tackles (5 solo) and 3 for losses while playing on the defensive side of the ball.
Junior QB, Jermaine Hunter (#7) leads the Cavalier's offense in their first victory of the season by amassing 121 total yards through the air and ground. His stat line consists of 62 yards rushing on 13 carries and one rushing TD and 59 yards in the air on 3 completions with one throwing TD. He also punted the ball three times for an average of 34 yards per punt with two inside the 10.
#34 Stewart Brooks, runs for a TD and catches another in a well fought contest against perennial power house Huntingtown high. He also had 4 tackle assists on defense.
Congratulations to Stephan Bowlan for being selected as Player of the Week. In his first game of the 2011 football season Stephen Bowlan had 35 yards receiving and recorded two TD’s receptions, each for 11 yards. The senior also rushed for 38 yards on the ground. Meanwhile on the defensive side of the ball the senior safety recorded 7 tackles and broke up 5 passes.
