  4. Player of the Year - Matt Harris

Congratulations to #22 Matt Harris who was selected as the Player of the Year.

Harris, a 6'-2" guard concluded a stellar career at Cathedral Prep with a brilliant senior season by scoring 470 points in 23 games for a 20.4 scoring average -- the fourth highest average in Prep history. His scoring accomplishments throughout the season were many, but the 78 points he scored in back-to-back games against Erie Central (38 points) and Toronto Pope John Paul (40 points) achieved a two-game total that may never be broken. His 40 point afternoon in Toronto tied for the third highest single game scoring total by a player in Rambler history. Harris also led Prep in several other areas including rebounding (104), foul shooting (.837), charges taken (10), and scored in double figures in 22 of 23 games. He also led the Ramblers in individual game scoring 19 times. Harris finished with 1,086 points in his varsity career at Cathedral Prep -- 8th highest on the school's all-time list. Over his four seasons the Ramblers compiled a record of 73 wins and just 27 losses. ... Read more

  5. Player of the Game: Cathedral Prep vs. McDowell

    Played on 2/25/2014 7:30 PM

Congratulations to #22 Matt Harris for being selected as the Player of the Game.

Harris concluded his basketball career at Cathedral Prep with a game-high 25 points in a loss to arch rival McDowell in the District Ten Championship game. The senior guard did drain 5 field goals from beyond the arc, and was a perfect 10-for-10 from the foul line. He added 3 rebounds, an assist, and drew a charge to round out his evening. Harris overcame a poor shooting night by exploding for 15 points in the final quarter as the Ramblers cut a 20-point deficit in half (57-47), but it wasn't enough as the Trojans finally defeated Prep after eleven consecutive losses to the Orange & Black entering the game. His 25 points gave him 1,086 in his career as a Rambler, good for eighth place on Prep's all-time scoring list. This was the ninth time this season that Harris earned the Max Preps Player-of-the-Game honor. ... Read more

    Played on 2/17/2014 8:30 PM

Congratulations to #33 Matt Colpoys for being selected as the Player of the Game.

With the fourth quarter clock winding down, junior forward Colpoys grabbed an errant three-point field goal attempt from a Rambler teammate and scored the go ahead put-back field goal with just 5.1 seconds remaining as Cathedral Prep edged Strong Vincent in their regular season finale. Colpoys saved his best for last by scoring six of Prep's 13 fourth quarter points, including a pair of free throws that put the Orange & Black ahead by six (54-48) midway in that final period. After Vincent rallied to take a one-point lead, Colpoys layup with a minute left put Prep back in front by one (59-58). The Colonels scored again to re-take the lead by a point with 15 seconds remaining, setting the stage for Colpoys' last second heroics. Colpoys attempted just three shots from the field all evening, but made those two huge fields down the stretch. He also added 5-of-6 from the foul line to go with three rebounds, a pair of assists, and a steal while not committing a turnover in the game. ... Read more

Congratulations to #14 Carter Cross for being selected as the Player of the Game.

For the second consecutive Saturday Carter Cross has earned the player-of-the-game award with a sharp 17-point, 7 rebound performance against city rival Strong Vincent. With his offensive game on the rise, Cross scored a career high 17 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field, including 3-for-5 from three point range. He was also a perfect 4-for-4 from the foul line. But, in addition to his offense Cross was everywhere for Ramblers in this afternoon matinee. He grabbed seven rebounds (including three offensive boards), dished out three assists, had four steals, a blocked shot, and a pass deflection while committing just two turnovers. His biggest basket came early in the fourth quarter after the Colonels trimmed the Prep lead to just seven points (52-45). Congratulations to #5 Marlon Tyree for being selected as the Player of the Game.

Tyree, a 6'-3" senior forward, recorded an amazing 'Double/Double' in Cathedral Prep's road victory at Franklin.
