Congratulations to Christian Nielsen for being selected as the Varsity Basketball Player of the Week. Mr. Nielsen is one of the hardest working players I have, had the opportunity to coach in my young career. He is there for practice and games willing to leave it on the court. At practice he works so hard the kid is on the inhaler, due to his asthma but doesn't stop him from going hard. Christian knows we don't expect much offense from him but to do what he can. He is what most consider the stopper. His defensive intensity and attitude is every coaches dream. He don't complain and is asked every game to guard the other teams best player; even if there is a size or athletic difference. Posted: Thu, Jan 19 2012 Congratulations to Bryghton Groves for being selected as the Varsity Basketball Player of the Week. It has always been a pleasant "battle" with Bryghton. Since his frosh year, I have put a lot of responsibility on his shoulders. He was a kid that a coach can see a leader in. This year has been no different. There is rough patches for the young man but he constantly is finding ways to improve and get out of bad situations. He is another one that has yet to find and reach his full potential. Posted: Mon, Jan 09 2012 Congratulations to Chris Elliot for being selected as the Varsity Basketball Player of the Week. It always hasn't been so easy with Mr. Elliott. This year has been a different story and his game is proof. He is starting to jump on ship and realize his potential. This first week back from break has been a great sign for Cheraw boys basketball. With limited time playing thru the season, Cassem is always ready and prepared. He is a frosh and undersized but his heart and understanding of the games makes up for it. He listens well and puts himself in good positions to have a chance. He also knows and understands his role, making him a very coachable player. View Previous Selections

He came in with a great attitude and work ethic. He is always open to help from the coaches and teammates.
