Player of the Week
Freshman Dan Quirk had a big first week as a Varsity Hockey player notching 5 goals to take the early season team lead. Jr. Forward Dom Bazzano is right on Quirks heals with 4 goals in two games.
Once again Freshman Danny Quirk had a big game netting three goals one with :28 left in the third period to send the game into overtime but our player of the week is goalie Kyle Chemente with 40 saves against Glastonbury.
Sr. Captain Brian Cohan elevated his game a notch or two to earn the player of the week. Cohan had 9 points in two games with a 4 goal and three goal effort in consecutive games to lead the Indians o victory in both games. Cohan had plenty of support from Sr. co-captain Eric Meier who st up Cohan earning 7 assists. The defense was solid all week with Sr. Hudson Partridge turning in a plus 3 (+3) effort and stellar play from Cowles, Georger, and Picard.
Matt Cowles insured the Indians a split of their two games with a late game (:48) dash from end to end to net the winning goal in a game against Rockville United. Matt has been a main stay of the defense and continues to rack up offensive points as well.
Hudson Partridge is the epitomy of a grinder. With size and good speed Hudson built his resume and waited for his chance to become an integral part of the FHS hockey team. As a Senior hudson has blossomed into a solid leading defenseman for his team. Hudson who has played solid all year was especially effective against Conard helping to lead his team to the upset victory over the DI team. Hudson will need to keep his game sharp for the next four games and help solidify a tournament birth for the Indians.
Tyler Bailey, Kyle Krajick, and Kyle Chemente are our Players of the week. Each of our three goalies turned in stellar work in a big game helping the team to qualify for the State Tournament. Krajick set the tone and pace for the Farmington team as he held off a hard charging effort by Newington to begin the game. With the wind behind Newington in the second period Tyler Baily had a career period stoping 7 scoring chances many from point blank range. In the third the teams leader and starting goalie Kyle Chemente displayed his emense skill as he built a brick wall in front of the goal denying numerous scoring chances and withstanding over 1 minute of 6 on 5 hockey to end the game. Congratulations to Farmingtons deep and talented goalies.
Senior Eric Meier is our player of the week with two two goal games and three assists the Sr. wing is hitting his stride at the right time as the team heads towards conference and state tournament time. Erics work in the corners and on penalty kills is how he earns his living but some nifty stick work and hustle earned him this weeks player of the week. Honerable mention goes to Jr. Goalkeeper Kyle Krajick who provided great work between the pipes picking up two wins for the team.
Dominick Bazzano led the Farmington Indians to a strong finish of the regular season. Starting with the game winner at Rentschler Field and points in all the games including a three assist game vs Wethersfield and the only tally in the conference championship solidify's Dom Bazzano, Jr Forward as our player of the week.
