Congratulations to Alkwan Williams for being selected as Player of the Week. Alkwan Williams combined a Historical Night and a Herculean effort in a clash of Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference Titans Friday Night leading the Trojans to a 23-17 win over Forest Hills. Although Conference foes, Johnstown and Forest Hills entered the Week 10 Non-Conference matchup as LHAC co-champions. Like he has done his entire career, Williams energized the crowd on hand all night. Williams made Trojan History early in the 3rd Quarter when he recorded his 500th career tackle. Williams finished the game with 10 tackles, including 2 sacks (totaling 21 yards), and 4 tackles for a loss. However, Williams pick 6 in the 3rd Quarter proved to be the winning score at the 6:19 mark. As Forest Hills Quarterback Justin Gdula was chased out of the pocket, Dalvin Williams wrapped up Gdula’s legs, who was then hit from the blindside by Malcolm Harris. The impact of Harris’ hit forced to ball to flutter in the air into the hands of Alkwan Williams who darted down the left sideline for a 33 yard interception return. The score put Johnstown ahead of Forest Hills 23-0. Williams also played a key role in the Trojans offense, catching 3 passes for 37. Williams will look to add to his 503 career tackles in the PIAA state playoffs, where the Trojans will face the District 9 Champion in 2 weeks on November 18th or 19th at a site to be determined. Williams and the Trojans finished their 10 Week schedule with a record of 9-1, Co-Champions of the LHAC going 8-1, & the LHAC Section 2 Champions going a perfect 5-0. View Previous Selections

Congratulations to Daquan Minter for being selected as Player of the Week. Trojan Wide Receiver Daquan Minter saved one of the best performances of his varsity career on Senior Night to help lead Johnstown over Bishop Carrol 42-15. Minter caught 4 passes for 105 yards and a touchdown. Minter's touchdown came at the 9:34 mark of the 3rd Quarter. Quarterback Gervon Simon hit Minter on a 30 yard flag route. Minter, with 2 defenders hanging on him, fought his way into the endzone for the touchdown. The touchdown capped 3 play 54 yard drive on the first Trojan possession of the 2nd half. Minter finished the night with 153 Total Yards, after returning 2 Husky kickoffs for 48 yards. With the win Minter and the Johnstown Trojans (8-1) claimed a piece LHAC Conference Championship with Forest Hills. View Previous Selections

Congratulations to Brock Eisenhuth for being selected as Player of the Week.
Congratulations to Brock Eisenhuth for being selected as Player of the Week. Brock Eisenhuth's defensive line play, held a Central Cambria offense under 100 Total Yards Friday night in Ebensburg, PA. Eisenhuth had 7 tackles, and disrupted numours plays in the Red Devil back field throughout the night. Despite Eisenhuth's efforts, the Trojans fell a point short, 7-6 for their first loss of the season. Eisenhuth and the Trojans defense did not allow a single passing yard. Now 7-1, Eisenhuth and the Trojans will host Bishop Carrol Friday Night at Trojan Stadium, Senior Night, in there last LHAC conference game. Kickoff is set for 7:00PM.

Congratulations to Mark Watson for being selected as Player of the Week. Johnstown Senior Defensive Back and Wide Receiver Mark Watson energinzed a capacity crowd Friday Night to help the Trojans defeat Bishop McCort 41-20 at Trojan Stadium. At the 3:26 mark of the 1st Quarter, Watson interceted a pass and returned it 100 yards to give the Trojans a 14-0 lead. Watson intercepted the pass and a 2nd and Goal play from the Trojan 6 yard line. Watson picked off his 2nd pass of the contest (5th of the season) on McCort's opening drive of the 2nd half. Watson also contributed 3 solo tackles on the defensive side of the ball. On the offensive side of the ball Watson had 3 carries for 15 yards, and caught 2 passes for 75 yards. On special teams, Watson returned 2 kickoffs for 22 yards. As the clock ran out on the Crushers, Watson had racked up 226 all purpose yards on the night, including 114 yards in interception returns. Watson and the Trojans remained perfect on the season at 7-0 and also clinched back to back LHAC Section 2 Championships. The Trojans will take their undefeated record to Ebensburg next week to take on the Central Cambria Red Devils. View Previous Selections

Congratulations to Javon Vuckovich for being selected as Player of the Week. With the Trojans trailing 17-14 midway through the 2nd Quarter Friday night against Bedford, Coach Tony Penna called on Senior Fullback Javon Vuckovich on a 2nd and 3 from the Bison 42 to keep a Trojan drive alive with a 1st Down. Vuckovich took a hand-off up the middle and barreled through 6 Bison defenders and sprinted downfield 42 yards to give the Trojans a 21-17 lead with 6:32 left in the 1st Half. This single individual effort proved to be the turning point in hard hitting, blue collar, high intensity game against Bedford. After Vuckovich's statement run, the Trojans scored 28 unanswered points to defeat the Bisons 42-17 on the road. Vuckovich finished the night with 5 carries for 58 yards and a Touchdown. Vuckovich also contributed with numerous lead blocks that sprung Senior Tailback Tim Odum to a 145 yard night, while also providing protection for Quarterback Gervon Simon as he threw for 190 yards. Vuckovich spearheaded an offense that totaled 474 yards, including 23 1st Downs, and manhandled the clock with a time of possession of 27:17. Vuckovich continued to plague Bedford on the devensive side of the ball, contributing 5 tackles. Vuckovich's turning point run kept the Trojans undeafted on the season with a record of 6-0. The Trojans host Johnstown City-Rival Bishop McCort (5-1) next week at Trojan Stadium. A victory would provide the Trojans some hardware, back to back LHAC Section 2 Championship. Congratulations to Dalvin Williams for being selected as Player of the Week. In a defensive battle Friday evening at Trojan Stadium, Senior Linebacker Dalvin Williams lead the Greater Johnstown Trojans to a 21-7 win over LHAC opponent Somerset. Dalvin lead all tacklers on defense with 14 (6 solo and 8 assisted). In a game where the Trojans trailed for over 15:00 (the longest the Trojans have trailed in a football game all season) Dalvin made plays when he needed to force the Eagles into critical punint situations deep in Somerset territory. Dalvin helped cage the Eagle's offense all night. The Eagle's managed only 174 total yards(80 rushing and 96 throwing), despite possessing the ball for over 27 minutes. Dalvin's effort, along with his fellow defensive teammates improved Johnstown's record to 5-0 on the season. The Trojans find themselves on the road next at Bedford versers a very good 2-2 football team (Bedford plays @ Westmon tomorrow, then will host the Trojans Friday).View Previous Selections

Congratulations to Tim Odum for being selected as Player of the Week. Senior Tailback Tim Odum ran his way past the Richland Ram defense to lead the Johnstown Trojans to a 35-27 LHAC win at Trojan Stadium. Odum and his teammates combined for 444 yards rushing and 4 rushing TD's. Odum carried the ball 12 times for 169 yards (14.1 average) and 3 Trojan TD's (29, 23, and 15). Odum scored his 1st TD with 5 seconds remaining in the opening quarter from 29 yards out to put the Trojans up 14-7. The scoring continued for Odum as he went untouched from 23 yards out into the endzone with 4:11 into the 3rd Quarter. The run capped off 7 play 63 yard. Odum put the Trojans ahead for good with 4:35 remaining by finding a cut back lane and plenty of Trojan blockers for a 15 yard touchdown to put the Trojans up 35-21. Despite a late score by the Rams, the Trojans hung on for a 35-27 victory. Odum also had 1 catch out of the backfield for 14 yards and had 4 tackles in the Trojan secondary. The Trojans stayed perfect on the season by improving to 4-0. Odum and the Trojans will host Somerset next Friday on JHS Homecoming Night at Trojan Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 7:00PM.View Previous Selections
