  15. Player of the Game: Meridian vs. Cairo

    Played on 2/28/2014 7:00 PM

Congratulations to #25 Davarae Edmonds for being selected as the Player of the Game.

Despite double doubles from two of his teammates in the persons of seniors Justin Prewitt and Mikey Schoffner it was the "grunt" work of junior postman Devarae Edmonds who fought the paint and the glass all night recording his own double double with 16 tallies and 13 caroms that kept the Bobcats in the lead for almost thirty minutes of the contest proving he can play with anyone's best. Prewitt's deep foul trouble the entire game hindered the twin post men from being on the floor at the same time for almost three quarters of play but allowed Schoffner room to play on the baseline where he provided the second inside scoring threat. The Injury earlier in the week to Schaal and an overall lack of perimeter shooting for the entire evening along with some fatigue induced turnovers eventually led the loss of the lead in the last three minutes of the contest and the eventual regional final loss for the first time in six seasons and this time to their arch rival, the Cairo... 19. Player of the Game: Meridian vs. Dongola

    Played on 2/27/2014 6:00 PM

Congratulations to #15 Justin Prewitt for being selected as the Player of the Game.

It was impossible to separate the games that our "Big Quicks" had on Thursday night as the duo of Justin Prewitt and Mikey Schoffner blitzed the Dongola Demons by combining for 47 points and 17 rebounds in the Bobcats' 93-52 victory over our regional foe. This is the seventh game in succession that the "book end" twins have litteraly ran their opponents off the court with their offensive aggressive play. Saturday the duo split 57 tallies and last night they were at it again from the opening tip matching one another basket for basket. The senior leadership demonstrated by these two have been a constant inspiration to the younger players in our program.... Read more

  22. Player of the Game: Meridian vs. Joppa-Maple Grove

    Played on 2/22/2014

Congratulations to #41 Cortese Acree for being selected as the Player of the Game.

There was no right way to select a most outstanding player for our regular season finale as the entire squad...every single player who took the court played with a single purpose in mind and that was to get first Justin Prewitt to his goal of 1,500 career points and then they turned to assisting Michael Schoffner to reach his mark of 1,000 career tallies. When each had reached their anticipated benchmarks the rest of the players turned the contest over to the reserves to finish the remaining quarter and a half of the contest. I cannot recall in my 49 years in the business ever seeing a group that were so unselfish in their united pursuit of helping their teammates attain these goals. Meridian closes the regular season with a record of 24-3 and their fourth consecutive undefeated conference championship and will travel to North Pulaski County next week for the area regional tournament.... 25. Player of the Game: Meridian vs. Century

    Played on 2/21/2014 7:30 PM

Congratulations to #25 Davarae Edmonds for being selected as the Player of the Game.

The "Beast" was in his best form tonight as he fought the boards from tip off to buzzer often with two or three others hanging on him as fought to control the caroms off the glass. Devarae's stat line was 10 points with 2 0f 2 charity tosses, 10 hard fought rebounds, five steals coming off some excellent post defense on his 6'7" opponent, 1 assist and 1 blocked shot, Varae started numerous fast breaks with his rebounds and break out dribbling plus the aforementioned steals that created 2 on 1's and 3 on 2's for his teamamtes. His efforts on the boards in a game with a ton of rough play and heavy contact in the paint only continues to impress on his teammates how important team play and winning is to him. 'Cats are now 23-3 overall and 9-0 in the South Egyptian Conference and can clinch another undefeated conference championship tomorrow as they host the Joppa Maple -Grove Rangers in Meridian's regualr season finale and annual homecoming contest. ...
